Before 1861 Italy was not a unified State.
In the south-center of Italy, the Royal House of Bourbons was at the head of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (Regno delle Due Sicilie). Following the invasion for unification process, the House of Savoy came to power in the new united Italy until the Second World War of 1939/1945. After more than a century, the Neo-Bourbon and Neo-Savoy autonomist movements still wish for the return of the old Royal Houses.
